Easydry was invented in 2003 by Anne Butterly while she was sharing a flat with six other girls in a flat in Dublin, Ireland. Fed up with the endless piles of soggy, stained towels left by her flatmates after they had coloured their hair, she went looking for an alternative. Surprised to find there wasn’t one, she decided to invent her own solution – an absorbent and disposable towel.
A Master’s graduate from one of Ireland’s most prestigious colleges, the Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business, Anne realised that any disposable towel had to be eco-friendly, for business as well as environmental reasons. So she set about developing a product that was robust and affordable, yet with impeccable green credentials. Initially focusing her efforts on the consumer market, she soon realised that towel-dependent businesses across the globe were desperate for a disposable product that would save them time and money, without creating an ecological disaster to rival the mass use of plastic carrier bags.
Initially targeting hair and beauty salons, Easydry rapidly spread to other sectors including gyms and healthcare as business owners realised the huge benefits the towels offered to their businesses and the environment.
In 2009 Easydry launched in Australia, where salon owners were quick to realise how Easydry could simplify salon life and make a real difference to their carbon footprint while also cutting energy and water costs.
Over the past decade Easydry has won a string of prestigious environmental and business awards, consolidating its reputation as the very best disposable towel you can buy.
